Steven Obituary

Steven R. Snyder, 68, passed away on March 13, 2025, in Ottsville, Pennsylvania, after a long battle with Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia. He donated his remains to science through the Humanity Gifts Registry in hopes that he may help those studying neurological diseases.

Born on June 30, 1956, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Steven dedicated his life to art, family, and the pursuit of creative expression.

A self-taught stone mason and sculptor, Steven began working with stone in 1976. He studied early Pennsylvania stone architecture and applied what he observed to create a pattern or formula that replicates that period's look, ultimately becoming a highly sought-after stone mason.

His passion for the medium led him to establish Cedar Maze in 1986—his home and studio in Point Pleasant, Pennsylvania. There, he cultivated a sculpture garden that became a haven for artistic expression. From 1997 through 2017, Cedar Maze hosted annual art shows featuring Steven’s own work alongside that of other artists. His sculptures often explored themes of love, commitment, family, and spirit. With their simple forms and subtle humor, his pieces resonated deeply with those who encountered them.

Beyond his artistic contributions, Steven was known as a soft-spoken, kind, and generous father and husband. He is survived by his beloved wife Marianne "Pinky" Snyder; his children Justin Anchinsko, Alyssa Murphy, and Cody Snyder; his mother Joy Snyder; his siblings Mark Snyder and his wife Sue, Katy DeHeart and her husband Michael, and David Snyder. He was predeceased by his father Robert Snyder.

Steven’s legacy lives on through his art and his stonework, and the many lives he touched. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. The family will have a private gathering in his honor. Condolences may be left at www.americanfh.net.
