Michael Scott Mayo, 48, of Holland, Bucks County, PA, passed away unexpectedly on September 26, 2024 at his residence.
Born in New York City, on Nov. 12, 1975, he was the son of Robert and Margaret “Peg” Wallace Mayo. He graduated from Scarsdale High School, Scarsdale, New York.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999 from Lycoming College, Williamsport. While in college, he became a member of the Mu Theta Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, pledging during the spring 1995 semester, and served as pledge master for two years and alumni chair for four years.
With a passion for theater in his veins, he enjoyed involvement in the theater arts in high school and college and worked for the Westchester Dinner Theatre. In speaking of theater work, he had said, “I felt like I never worked a day.”
Michael also went on to work for the Transportation Security Administration at Philadelphia International Airport after 9/11. He last worked for 17 years as a lineman for Verizon from the company’s Trevose and State Road, Philadelphia, locations.
He was raised in the Episcopalian faith and was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons.
Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Margaret and Robert Wallace, and his paternal grandparents, Suzanne and Ernest Mayo.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his children, Emily Lynn and Benjamin Scott Mayo and their mother, Sandra Waters, grandmother Debbie Waters; and his companion, Kathryn Campomizzi-Clews.
Michael's memorial service will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm (Religious Service at 4:15 pm), Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, at American Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1859 Stout Drive, Warminster, PA 18974. Fr. Zehner, of St Bede the Venerable, will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-6:00 pm. Michael's remains will be interred at Larchmont Avenue Church, 60 Forest Park Avenue, Larchmont, NY 10538 at a later date.
