Eulogy for My Beloved Matthew

As we remember and celebrate the life of my beloved son Matthew, who left us far too soon at the age of 43. Matthew is survived by his daughter Olive Bird, his fiancé Lesley Bruecks, his mother Linda, his uncle Joseph Bird and his big little brother Nate.

Matthew was a gentle soul, a beacon of kindness and love in our lives. His presence was a gift, and his absence leaves an irreplaceable void in our hearts.

Growing up Matt had a way of always finding something interesting in almost every situation. He was smart and funny and a good person. I will hold those happy memories in my heart forever.

Music was his greatest passion. It was the soundtrack to his life, a source of joy and solace. He played the guitar with such heartfelt emotion that it moved everyone who heard him. For him, music was a way to express the inexpressible, a language that spoke directly to the soul

Matt loved animals. He had a unique ability to connect with them. He often said that animals brought out the best in him. They touched his gentle heart.

But above all, my Matty cherished his friends and family. His love for us was unwavering, and he showed it in countless ways—through his warm hugs, his thoughtful words and everything he did.

As we navigate the pain of his loss, let us also remember the light he brought into our lives. His gentle spirit, his love for animals, his passion for music, and his devotion to those he loved will forever be etched in our hearts. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit lives on in the memories we shared and the love we continue to feel.

Rest in peace, my dear boy. You were a blessing to us all, and we will carry your gentle spirit with us always.
