1960 John 2025

John Delligatti

April 27, 1960 — April 11, 2025

Colmar, PA

John Delligatti, age 64, of Colmar, PA, passed away Friday morning, April 11, in his home after a 5-year cancer battle. John started his treatment on his 60th birthday. He was born April 27, 1960, to Stephen and Mary Delligatti in Freeport, NY. He lived in New York for much of his life, moving to Pennsylvania in 2019.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Delligatti (Belsito), who was born just 10 days earlier than him (he'd never let her forget she was older), and their reunion was no doubt full of a joy not felt in over 20 years.

Born on Long Island, John grew up in Massapequa Park, New York, with his six brothers and sisters, including an identical twin brother. John met his future wife, Linda, who grew up in a nearby neighborhood where a trail through the Massapequa preserve connected their houses. John became a master electrician servicing Long Island & New York City. He was extremely proud of his craftsmanship, always excited to show off the buildings he wired, and had the opportunity to meet some of his favorite athletes, musicians, and other celebrities through his work.

John's life was marked by events that profoundly affected him, most notably the death of his wife Linda at 43, leaving behind 12- and 9-year-old sons, John Anthony & Nicholas. In this moment of tragedy after losing his partner in life and the mother to his children, John completely devoted himself to the care and upbringing of his children. John, John Anthony, and Nicholas became an inseparable trio, supporting and loving each other. The spirit of this fellowship lives on through John Anthony and Nicholas, and they will be the first to tell you they are who they are today due in large part to their father.

The doctors at Doylestown Hospital extended John's life well beyond their initial expectations, and John took advantage of every second. In the time he was gifted, John was able to meet his grandson, Jack, born to his son Nicholas.

An avid sports fan, John loved the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Rams, a passion he passed down to his sons. John was fortunate enough to watch the Rams win a Super Bowl with his children after his cancer diagnosis, a memory they will cherish forever.

John was a talented guitarist, and you'd often find him jamming away and singing during his younger years. He loved going fishing (catch & release) with friends and family and was an excellent cook.

An animal lover, John had many canine, aquatic, and reptilian companions over the years. While his girls Pepper and Shorty miss him dearly on this Earth, there's no doubt those from his past such as BB, Spanky, and Dayman are feeling the love now that he is with them.

John always had a smile on his face and was known to loved ones for his intelligence, wit, and unrelenting sense of humor. He was the most popular patient at the hospital where he was receiving treatment, with countless nurses commenting on his big heart, fighting spirit, full head of hair, and how he could always make them laugh. John was smiling and laughing with his children up until his last moments despite the circumstances of his declining health. A fierce lover and fighter, he felt the ups and downs of life deeply and revealed his heart of gold to those lucky enough to know him well.

John & his sons are eternally grateful for the care he received and the quality of every single person he encountered in the Doylestown health system. In lieu of flowers being sent to the house, we ask that you consider sending them to the nurses in Doctor Mitchell Alden's office in John's name at 599 W State St #312, Doylestown, PA 18901. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be sent to the Doylestown Health Foundation.

John requested not to have a formal service; John Anthony & Nicholas will be planning a celebration of life at his home in Colmar, PA, with an additional celebration for his Long Island-based family and friends closer to summer. The family will reach out with additional details when they are available.
