Dorothy Marie D'Angelo

April 5, 1947 — August 10, 2022

Warrington, PA.

Dorothy Marie Brown D'Angelo, age 75, of Warrington, PA., passed away at Doylestown Hospital on August 10, 2022, from pancreatic cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, Iva and John "Eggie" Brown, and her ex-husband Joseph D'Angelo. She is survived by her sister Eileen Plocher and husband Ron of Warminster, PA., her stepdaughter Kathy D'Angelo of McSherrystown, PA., and her adopted families, the Webb, Antwi and Kolbs.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Dottie graduated from Olney High School and had a lengthy career as a registered nurse, obtaining her RN from Thomas Jefferson School of Nursing. Dottie earned a master's degree from Penn State. She began working at Roanoke (VA) Memorial Hospital in pediatrics but spent most of her professional life as a psychiatric nurse at Eastern State Hospital and School in Bensalem, PA., where she cared for adolescent girls. She later cared for numerous patients at Norristown State Hospital before taking early retirement to care for her mother. It was here that she met and mentored Marlene Kolb, a nursing student, who became a lifelong friend.

Dottie was a ray of sunshine and cultivated friendship easily. As a child, she and her sister Eileen enjoyed lazy days at Wilson Lake in NJ., and Girl Scout activities in a troop led by their mom. She loved the beach and lived in Florida briefly in the 1960's and spent time there with her parents in the 1990's. She stayed connected with colleagues and classmates from all stages of her life and sustained a 40-year friendship with Phyllis and Nathaniel Webb and their entire family. At age 26, Dottie bravely took on the role of stepmom when Kathy was 12, and in her 40's acted as second mother to Phyllis's daughter, Lauren. More recently she was an adopted member of both the Webb(now Antwi) and Kolb Families. She babysat and provided loving care to both the Kolb and Antwi children.

Dottie appreciated the simple things in life and shared her childlike enthusiasm and curiosity with loved ones of all ages. She was as avid member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and was devoted to the music program, especially the Bell Choir. In her retirement she enjoyed cruising the seas with the Webb and Antwi families including a trip to Italy/Greece/Turkey just last month. She loved nature and outdoor activities such as gardening, walking, camping, and rafting on the Delaware River. In her early years, Dottie rode motorcycles, which earned her the nickname of "Two Shoes" due to her goody two shoe nature, a label that should surprise no one. Her legacy will remain with everyone she loved as she encouraged those around her to follow their dreams and to stop and smell the flowers.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service, Thursday August 25, 2022, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 505 N. York Rd., Hatboro, PA., 19040. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am., followed by services at 11:00 am., interment will be private. Flowers may be sent to the church prior to the service Thursday morning or Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Dottie.
