Doris Beatrice Hamilton, lovingly known as “Nanny” and “Grandmom” by her grandchildren, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, at the age of 94. Born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1930, in Philadelphia, PA. Doris was a kindhearted friend and a beacon of love, joy and cherished by all that had the privilege to know her. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Hamilton, whose untimely passing she faced with remarkable strength and faith. She is survived by her two children; Debra Guerrero (David Guerrero) and Robert Hamilton (Laura Hamilton) of Doylestown, PA, Doris was a proud grandmother to Daniel Guerrero (Maria Guerrero) of Vista CA; Lauren Oestreich (Nick Oestreich) of Doylestown, PA; and Lyndsi Angstadt (Evan Angstadt) of Kutztown, PA. She was also a doting great-grandmother to Vayda Guerrero, Maverick Guerrero, and the newest member of the family Mallory Oestreich. Doris was overjoyed to meet Mallory who was born September 9, 2024 just months before her passing.
Doris spent most of her life in Hatboro, PA. where she created a home filled with love and warmth. After beginning her career as a businessperson, she devoted herself to raising her children as a loving mother and wife. Once her children were grown, Doris returned to the workforce and retired as a bank teller, a role in which she truly excelled, her keen attention to detail, cheerful demeanor, and care for others made her beloved by her colleagues and customers alike.
Doris had a vibrant personality and a passion for celebrating life. She adored decorating her home for every holiday, with Christmas being her favorite. She loved shopping, attending social events, and staying active, always up for a party or an outing. Doris loved the beach and cherished the time spent there when the family gathered many summers in a rented beach house. Those summers created precious memories that she held dear. Doris felt incredibly blessed to have lived long enough to see all her grandchildren get married, a joy that brought her immense pride and happiness.
Doris also had a deep love for animals and enjoyed spending time with the many pets her grandchildren brought into her life over the years. Her gentle and caring nature extended to all creatures making her a beloved presence to both people and pets alike. Her faith as a devoted Christian brought her peace and comfort throughout her life, especially during difficult times. Doris was active in her church, volunteering on Sundays and hosting holiday gatherings for her childhood friends, many of whom preceded her in death.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Neshaminy Manor Nursing Home and the Hospice Team who cared for Doris with such compassion and dedication during her final days. Doris’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and generosity. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her warmth, laughter, and unwavering strength.
A celebration of life will be planned by the family in early 2025
